MassMine

MassMine is a web scraping tool designed to collect data from online sources and social media. At the time of writing, the project is currently ran as a command line.
This causes a barrier of
entry for users that are not tech proficient. In order to reduce the barrier of entry, students at ASU are assigned to develop a new GUI for future development in MassMine
This UI/UX Development project came from TWC 444 User Experience (Fall 2020). Our team focused on developing the Data Preview and Data Visualization pages for MassMine GUI.
The objectives presented to us during the development process include:
- Uncover insights into MassMine users in order to drive a user-centered framework in the creation of a MassMine GUI
- Define the challenges and pain points currently experienced by MassMine users
- Ideate to address challenges and pain points currently experienced by MassMine users
- Create a prototype aimed at addressing challenges and pain points for users, constantly iterating to make the product (MassMine tool) better
- Test the design to ensure it meets users’ capabilities and limitations; compare prototype to current MassMine tool to provide recommendations and possible solutions
The technologies used include Figma, Adobe Illustrator, Google collaborative tools
In my development experience, the factors that went right were:
- At the end of the day, we have a complete UI design.
- Our UI design held up during QA testing.
Issues that came up during the development of the game include
- We had issues with formatting, especially with .
- Due to miscommunication, our UI design did not match up with the rest of the new UI components other teams were working on at the time.
